Erica Baker

Erica D. Baker, Esquire is a transactional lawyer that has an interest and passion for all things creative. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, a historic hub for jazz and blues with a rich tradition and distinct identity. She developed a strong musical foundation that she cultivated by receiving a bachelor’s degree in music from Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Attorney Baker earned her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law where she focused her studies in intellectual property. After passing the uniform bar exam in 2018, she began her legal career at Kessinger Law Firm, a general civil litigation firm in Kansas City, Missouri. She handled various litigation matters in family law, real estate law, contract law, probate law, and business law.

Attorney Baker always knew she wanted to practice entertainment law, so after 3 years in civil litigation, she moved to Nashville to pursue more opportunities to practice in the entertainment industry. As a singer, songwriter, and musician, Erica is invested in the arts community, which affords her a unique perspective and approach to the practice of law. She started her solo practice, Prolific Entertainment Law Firm to serve creatives of all disciplines.

Attorney Baker is passionate about educating and representing the arts community at large. She understands the perspectives and needs of creatives, and she uses her legal knowledge to help protect and advocate for them. Her commitment is to fight for clients just as hard as she would fight for herself. She sees herself as a creative first, who happens to have a superpower of being a lawyer. She always strives to be relatable and prides herself on being accessible and non- traditional.

Attorney Baker joined The Advisory, PLLC in 2023 as an associate practicing in the areas of  entertainment, copyrights, trademarks, real estate and contracts. She focuses her practice in transactional matters, but also offers support to the litigation practice in the areas of real estate and entertainment. She calls herself the “Contract Queen” and loves to find new creative ways to craft contracts and protect her clients. She believes that law doesn’t have to be complicated, and she wants clients to gain understanding and be empowered.
